Our farm dream began 4 years ago when we watched the documentary, Food Inc. We changed our way of eating overnight and developed a passion for livestock being raised in a more natural state where they could root, wallow, scratch, peck, and bask in the sunshine to their hearts content. Our in laws had property on Whidbey Island where we were living at the time and we were fortunate enough to start farming with them. We started with some Scottish Highland cattle. Then came some laying hens. Meat chickens were next. Over a year later we had our house on the Island sold and were purchasing our new home on 9 acres in the Skagit foothills. We had lived there one week when we purchased our first 2 pigs. Everything just kind of snowballed from there! This last March of 2017 we moved for the last time to our current farm in Day Creek, technically Sedro Woolley, on 10 acres. We have a much better spread for raising our animals the way we want and with better housing for them. 2 massive, old barns that provide much needed shelter in our rainy, pacific northwest climate. We are forever grateful to have such an amazing place!
Now our main focus is heritage pigs and pastured pork. We are hoping in the next year or so to have pastured chicken and turkey available for purchase. Lamb may also be up for grabs next year with our newest project of Scottish Blackface Sheep. Our Scottish Highland herd is growing as well so grass fed beef may also be on the menu. See the theme here ;) Growth is our goal! Also educating and providing you with a place where you can know your food and your farmer!
